Imagine this… you’re invited to a contest… a very big contest… only 10 people are invited to enter, and you have to do your thing in front of 4,000 spectators. Seriously, 4,000 freakin’ people? The town I grew up in had less people than that in its city limits.

Basically, it’s a blueprint for your very own DIY cruiser. I’m sure there are other ones out there, but it just goes to show you that if you really really really want to skate, yet lack funds, there is a way.

It’s not about having the trendy new graphics, it ain’t about the fresh gear, it’s all about the simple act of rolling. Flip trickery is a bonus, jumping over cars is neat, but when it all comes down to the core of what we do… we roll.

Sometimes when I’m in a slump and about to get frustrated (when I can’t land my easy tricks or I keep getting shinners when doing no complies), I like to take my board, run out the door, and just skate around my neighborhood without taking my wheels off the ground. Some people may call it a soul session, some people may call it being an old dog, but it’s all skateboarding. It’s all about fun, right?
