Skateboarding in the Olympics?
I recently completed another one of those websites where I basically talk smack about things I don’t like. But hey, opinions are like fingerprints, right?

Skateboard Olympics!
Scuba Steve posted this in the forums, but I thought it was too good to keep there… thanks for letting me share it with everybody else!
RIP Mike, roll forever!
We back any grassroots effort to get a skatepark built. As busy as Gonzales getting, and as large as the skate community is there, they should have had a park ages ago (rather than tighten their crackdown on skateboarders there). Anyway, the title says what this is about. Live music, five bills (cheap!), and a good cause. I think it’s worth the trip… the Gonzales crews I know are good people.

As many of you are already aware, the park in Petal Mississippi is nearly ready… it looks good, and as reported by Big Tony and company, it looks to be a pretty solid place to ride.
Unfortunately, the park will indeed be pay to skate. We’ll see how long that works out.

Congratulations to Tim Buechele of Loranger & Wayne Gauthreaux of Hammond , the Winners of the final “Big Mike Raffle.” The two bought a total of 4 tickets, but as good friends they opted to double their chances by adding both names to all 4 tickets!
Tim is a skater from waaaay back, his first deck a GT model some 20-plus years ago! He parked his deck a long time ago, though, due to a left ankle blow-out and an addiction to Harley-Davidson motorcycles and building bikes. Tim is a regular at Dreamland Skatepark in the summer, supporting his 11 yr/old son’s passion for skating and has recently started trying to skate again with the help of an ankle brace.
Wayne has dabbled with skating on and off and also frequents Dreamland with his son Tyler, age 8. Wayne too has been caught “boosting” his son’s deck, but now he’ll roll with class!
Tim & Wayne both work at Hammond Harley Davidson.
