The following column was written in response to anarticle written by Aimee Yee, concerning an interview she had with a lady named Lori Wagner (a drug therapist). In the article, Ms. Wagner made statements that painted our skatepark as a place where drugs are openly and freely distributed by folks on such a regular basis, that one would only have to go “sneak off” to the park to “score” drugs. The Star was good enough to publish our response below.

Though we were given the chance to respond, we still find Ms. Yee’s lack of journalistic effort to verify or discredit the claims made by Ms. Wagner to be at worst reckless, at best unprofessional. We will not tolerate the slandering of the skateboard community, or the skatepark we fought so hard to get.
